Aboriginals Protest

Today after photographing people on the streets of Queanbeyan, we headed to centrelink, Braddon to photograph a protest of aboriginals against the centrelink system. We were told by a protester that it was aborigines from the Northern Territory who came for the apology by Kevin Rudd that asked them to perform this protest. it happens every month and i thought it was beautiful to see them backing up others i their culture to make a difference and have a say! 

Watson exhibitions

Christina, Claire, Anthea, Amy and Myself went to the vivid exhibitions in Watson. 

40,000+40 was by far the best exhibition i have seen in vivid so far. it was filled with beautiful photographs of huge portraits of aborigines showing many great perspectives of their lives and culture. As you walk into the exhibition you see a number of photograms in the traces of memory exhibitionof different plant life, some of these have been toned giving a pleasing effect!

Jorge Deustua exhibition

Today we visited the exhibition of Jorge Deustua and had a talk from the man himself, i found his work very unique and was intrigued by the portraits of men with guns and their unexpected vulnerability. His shots were engaging in their own way, some more indiviudally than that of in a group of collaborative images.

Vivid Exhibitions

So far visited vivid exhibitions have been reasonably impressive.

Parade: manufacturing selves in photography
Of all exhibitions this one was less than impressive. many of the photographs seemed to be lacking in the technical department, although these photographs are based on contemporary ideas i think that the 'rules' so-to-speak of photography need to be at least considered. Many of them were very creative and made for reasonable artworks. The line of the transexual male was quite enticing, capturing emotion in a misunderstood walk of life.

Sites of Convergence: Series #3 by Jo Anne Duggan
These photographs of italian interior work pictured beautiful colours and truely captured the atmosphere of these buildings. I feel they would come across much stronger with mounting :)

Degree South: Documentary
Of all exhibitions so far i was most impressed by this one. The documentation of so many struggles in life were moving and were photographed in a pleasing manner, it makes the people watching want to learn more as they are faced with issues many dont know exist.
